Behaviour Work
Not everything can be solved by training alone. When we have an issue with dog- or people- reactivity, dog bites, excessive fear, noise phobias, separation distress, resource guarding and many others, we need to look at why the behaviour is happening so that we can best address it.
If we only tackle the surface level symptoms we run the risk of, at best, not making progress quickly enough, and at worst, making these behaviours worse or creating other problem behaviours that then also need to be worked on. It is our goal to get to the most likely roots of the behaviours and address those along with the symptoms for a robust and lasting behaviour change.
Behaviour work tends to require a number of parallel avenues of work, from changes in environment, our own behaviours or work on communication and interaction to liaising with Veterinary teams for physical contributors to the behaviours to training work for the day to day on the ground implementation.
Address the underlying causes
We are not looking at quick fixes as they do not work long term even if they may appear to work in the short term. We work on robust behaviour modification and training work with your dog to ensure that they can get back to being happy and healthy member of canine society.
Tailored behaviour modification plan
One size does not fit all when it comes to behaviour modification. While we may use standard exercises here and there the overall approach it fully tailored to you and your dog. Every family is different and the programme needs to fit around your life otherwise you won't find time to do it.
Liaising with Veterinary professionals where needed
Between 80% and 90% of behaviour cases have a pain or discomfort component in them. Our experience with this matches that of countless other professionals in the field [Mills etc al]. We cannot make significant progress on a behavioural issue while there is pain or discomfort, we need to work in parallel.
