Calm Canine

This is our course for over excited dogs. Dogs who jump and bark and pull on leash very excited to see other dogs. Dogs who tend to be a bit too full on for other dogs when they do get up to say hello.

What do we cover?

This course requires all dogs to complete an initial consultation and potentially some one to one work before joining this group. In this group we work on reducing the novelty of seeing other dogs, bringing down the arousal when there are dogs around and helping them get to the point of being able to listen and learn new things in these environments.

When the dogs are ready we will work on polite approaches to each other, but only when they are ready. Some dogs may need to repeat this course a number of times to gain sufficient practice to achieve this.

We always follow scientifically verified, aversion free training and behaviour techniques. There are no harsh methods or tools throughout. At all times we follow the code of ethics of both the APDT and IMDT.

Your notes for each session will be sent to you via email after the class.

Who is this course for?

This group course is designed for dogs of any age who are struggling with excessive excitement when out and about and in particular when other dogs are around.

This course is not suitable for dogs who are reactive towards dogs or people, or who are excessively fearful. We have other suitable courses, training, or behaviour work for these cases. Dogs must go through a full assessment process and potentially a number of one to one sessions before joining this group by invitation.
